I had read this book last year and found it ok kinds… not bad and not too excellent. I was surprised when the reviews started coming in.

The movie is good… not excellent… but good. It is slightly different from the book ‘coz of the love angle. I don’t know why it has been nominated for the Oscars… I mean why are the Americans/British so fascinated with the slum side of India? There are other aspects to it… why do they always want to see the darker side?

Come to think of it… why do the depressing movies win Oscars? I don’t have the Oscar winning movies list… but it is a trend. The more a movie makes you cry, the better chances it has of winning.

Very good performances from all actors. Worth a watch… but worth an Oscar??? I doubt.
